The Annex
Bounded by Dupont Street, Bloor Street, Bathurst Street and Avenue Road.
A leafy downtown neighbourhood of Victorian and Edwardian homes beside the university.
The Annex's one-way streets are lined with brick homes and mansions built between 1880 and the early 1900s, many featuring Romanesque arches, Queen Anne turrets and wooden porches. Bordering the University of Toronto, it's long been a student and faculty quarter.
Many of the larger houses were divided into apartments over the years, so the area mixes grand single homes with multi-unit conversions. Selling an Annex home rewards knowing its architecture — something I pay close attention to.
