Cabbagetown
Bounded by the Don Valley, Parliament Street, Wellesley Street and Dundas Street, east of Yonge.
Often called the largest continuous area of preserved Victorian housing in North America.
The name goes back to Irish immigrants who settled here in the 1840s and grew cabbages in their front yards. Today the streets of restored Victorians draw an eclectic mix of writers, artists, academics and professionals.
It's a tight-knit downtown neighbourhood with heritage character on nearly every block. Selling a period home here rewards careful marketing.
